Dear Public Project

This project was first installed in the streets of Lexington, Kentucky on May 1, 2008. Over thirty diary entries were posted on telephone poles and bulletin boards in coffee shops or small businesses. This project has since been installed in several public locations across Lexington, Kentucky, and still continues to be posted.

The purpose of this project initially was to address the issues of making my personal life public. During the first installation, readers were given the opportunity to comment on the entries. With this installation and through this website, readers can now participate by either commenting on entries or writing their own entry to be placed in public by me. To learn more about this, please visit the participate link. In the past, all of the entries were by me, but with further participation from others this project is beginning to grow into a way for everyone to express themselves freely.

This project is about revealing yourself. With it comes vulnerability and fear, but also comes the relief that you no longer need to hide yourself in a book that the world will never see. Readers will be able to have an intimate moment with any entry as it can be ripped off the surface and taken home to be read in the privacy of their homes.
